You had been toiling away at the make-shift editing bay in your extra bedroom for months. The mission was simple in concept but difficult in execution — cut down 15 hours of footage of your death metal band’s backstage antics into the ultimate concert film. Why you hadn’t hired someone else to do this is beyond you, but the pandemic had given you a lot more free time than normal, and that was the excuse you were going with.

You finally come up with a cut you were happy with and invite your friends over to a screening. Trying to make it as big an event as you can, you make loaded potato skins, popcorn, and bring in buckets of chilled Krug for your guests to watch your 15 minute masterpiece, The Loudness of the Lambs.

Your friends start coming in droves, but you are prepared. With the help of your spouse, you have them put their shoes into the walk-in shoe closet, then hand them each a glass of bubbly. They all gather upstairs in the massive living room, with some flooding into the tatami room to the side, and you take the first group into your screening room downstairs. Your heart racing, you kill the lights and start the film.
