Blake is outstanding - he knows the market, moves fast, is super responsive. Seemingly available 24/7, he is a terrific problem solver and will make sure you are fully comfortable with the rental process. And somehow he manages it all with a positive attitude and smile. In my particular case he helped me find an excellent flat in one of my favorite neighborhoods. Renting in Japan can be complicated - you need someone you can trust who will go to great lengths to secure the apartment you want. Blake is that person!!

As an American, I can say that moving to Japan is overwhelming. Practically from the day we arrived, it was a scramble to deal with housing, work, and a seemingly endless series of bureaucratic forms.One thing that made our transition easier was working with Taka-san and Blackship Realty. Taka-san is fluent in both Japanese and English, and he did good by us. He showed us a bunch of places, both apartments and standalone houses, and then helped us put our best foot forward on the application. He stayed with us every step of the way, and he let us know that we can contact him with any problems even after move-in.Renting a Japanese apartment is surprisingly complicated and bureaucratic compared to what we’re used to in the US, and rejections are common. If you’re not fluent in Japanese (or even if you are), you definitely want someone like Taka-san advocating for you.
